WJP is thrilled to announce the 30 finalists for the World Justice Challenge! The Challenge is a global prize competition to identify, recognize, and promote good practices and high-impact projects and policies that advance the rule of law in three categories: (1) Access to Justice, (2) Anti-Corruption and Open Government, and (3) Equal Rights and Non-Discrimination

The 30 finalists – plus 10 honorable mentions – will join WJP in person at the World Justice Forum in The Hague, where they will present their groundbreaking initiatives to an international panel of judges and participate in the Justice Expo. This impressive group is tackling critical issues in 27 countries around the world including:

  • combating gender-based violence

  • checking COVID corruption

  • confronting racial and ethnic discrimination

  • defending disability rights

  • promoting environmental justice

  • empowering youth leadership

  • protecting the right to information

  • strengthening customary and informal justice. 

Five Challenge winners will receive $20,000 in cash prizes at an inspiring awards ceremony at the World Justice Forum (May 30 - June 2). Register now to watch live, or to meet and mingle with these changemakers in The Hague!

The World Justice Forum 2022: Building More Just Communities (May 30 - June 2) will include dozens of working sessions and three days of dynamic plenary sessions that will dig into the global state of justice and the rule of law, what works in advancing people-centered governance, and commitments and calls to action.

The Forum’s three intersecting themes are Access to Justice, Anti-Corruption & Open Government, and Equal Rights & Non-Discrimination. We will announce more speakers on a rolling basis, but don’t wait to register!

Russia, Ukraine, and the Dangers of Authoritarian International Law

We look forward to welcoming pioneering Challenge finalists from both Russia and Ukraine to the World Justice Forum, and we stand with the brave people of both countries resisting Russia’s unprovoked, unlawful invasion of Ukraine.

As the consequences of authoritarian rule spill onto the international stage in a horrifying manner, we spoke with University of Chicago Professor Tom Ginsburg, who also chairs our Rule of Law Research Consortium, about the dangers of “authoritarian international law.”
