If I defeat Chuck Grassley and turn Iowa’s Senate seat blue this November, I will be the most senior military person ever-elected to the United States Senate. As a Democrat in the shadow of January 6, 2021, that feels rather fitting.

And with Putin invading Ukraine, it is vitally important that we have an experienced voice in the Senate, who truly understands what is at stake, who leads instead of follows.

I served our nation around the globe for nearly 4 decades in the United States Navy. Chuck Grassley has only succeeded in serving the interests of corporate campaign donors and bowing to the likes of Donald Trump. That ain’t Iowa.

The early polls all show this race could be very close. Political pundits are already saying if we win here in Iowa, Democrats are guaranteed to hold onto our majority in the Senate. But Mitch McConnell and his Super PACs are raising millions to come after me.
