John,
Senator Rick Scott―head of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, which supports Republicans trying to win the Senate―released a blueprint agenda for Republicans if they win the majority this November. Mitch McConnell described the plan as one that “sunsets Social Security and Medicare within five years” while raising taxes on seniors.
Here’s what some of the Senate Republicans who are on the ballot this November said about the plan:
Every voter in Wisconsin and Florida should know what their senators plan to do to Social Security and Medicare. Donate $7 today to make sure they do!
Senators Marco Rubio and Ron Johnson have been vocal supporters of Republican plans to undermine Social Security and Medicare over the past decade―from debt limit hostage taking to Donald Trump’s plan to defund Social Security and Medicare during the pandemic. They will try to offer weasel words and denials, but their records are clearly hostile to retirement security and older Americans.
Right now, there are majorities in the House and Senate that favor protecting Social Security and Medicare, and even expanding them. But those majorities are slim, and Republicans only need to pick up ONE SEAT this November to have the chance to enact Sen. Scott’s radical agenda.
Rick Scott’s hostility to seniors goes back to before he became a senator. His company committed the largest-ever case of Medicare fraud, stealing billions from the Medicare Trust Fund.
We’re making sure that the Rick Scott-Marco Rubio-Ron Johnson plan never has a chance in Congress. Donate $7 today to make sure every senior in Florida and Wisconsin knows where they stand!
Thanks,
