March is Women's History Month and today is International Women's Day. This time is an opportunity to celebrate the trailblazers who fought for equality. And it's a chance to recommit to the necessary work ahead to ensure all women have equal rights.

We stand on the shoulders of American women that have been leading the fight for justice since before our nation was born. Fairness and equality are core American values, and American women have been the preeminent champions when it comes to holding our leaders and our government accountable to the ideals enshrined in our Constitution.

Gender equality means equal pay for equal work. It means strong paid leave. It means reproductive freedom, gender equity, and anti-discrimination legislation.

Fighting for equality is always the right path forward. Every day, I am working to make sure all women and girls are treated with the same dignity and given the same access to opportunity as their male peers. We can always do what's right to move toward a more just nation and a world free of gender discrimination.
