Dear John,
Today is International Women’s Day. However, at WOLA, every day is International Women’s Day! Ensuring that women and girls are lifted up through our human rights advocacy work in nearly every corner of Latin America is a commitment that we will not stray from.
You and I both know that there is so much work to be done to end discrimination and achieve equality. Right now across Latin America we see signs of struggle every day – women must often work harder only to be paid a fraction of what their male counterparts receive. They also often shoulder the burden of serving as the primary caretaker for children while also working. Sadly, it can be even more difficult for some – gender-based discrimination, violence, harassment, single-parenthood…surely you know the list all too well.
It gives me hope, however, that you are with WOLA not only to stand up in solidarity against the injustices that women throughout Latin America face, but also to stand with us when we make progress together. WOLA is more committed than ever to bring the voices of women and girls to the halls of power in Washington D.C. in order to influence policy and social change. Your support of WOLA makes this work possible.
So here’s to progress and equality for all women.
With gratitude,
Carolina Jiménez
President, WOLA
