Dear friend,

I hope your week is off to a great start. I’m reaching out to you in recognition of a cause that’s special to my heart: International Women’s Day.  

The ACCESS Adult Learning program supports more than 100 women who are the most vulnerable and underserved among us. Our program provides ESL (English as a Second Language) to better resource and empower these hard-working women. On this special day, we are asking for your support in helping us provide laptops for our students, so that they may continue to participate in this program. With health concerns, transportation barriers and frequent transition to online learning of their children’s schooling that prevents women from taking advantage of opportunities outside the home, the program had to be shifted online to accommodate students during these uncertain times.  

The transition online has been tremendously successful, allowing us to reach so many women from the comfort of their homes. However, there is one barrier that many English learners in the program are facing and that can be easily overcome with your help, and that is digital connectivity. Some women in the program have access to one laptop that is shared with multiple family members, contributing to missed sessions, while others simply cannot afford one, which completely prevents their participation. This is why we are asking for your help today. 

Learning English through this program means that these women can gain the language and technological skills that will allow them to be more involved in the academic success of their children.
