Friend,
This International Women’s Day, we are honoring and reflecting on the courage, tenacity, and power of immigrant women.
Too often, the contributions of immigrant women are taken for granted. To be candid — our country would grind to a halt without the unique impact of immigrant women on our society.
Immigrant women blaze our own paths for our families and communities — many are putting food on our tables, helping to rebuild neighborhoods after climate disasters, organizing in the workplace — often all while providing for our families.

I think of my mother, María Teresa, who, like millions of immigrants before her, had the courage to move to this country from Colombia so my nine brothers and sisters and I could have a better life. For decades to come, women like my mother will continue to migrate to this country for the same reason — for better opportunities for themselves and their families.
, as we navigate this crucial moment of reimagining the possibilities of a just and equitable 21st century immigration system, we cannot overlook the unparalleled contributions of immigrant women.
Thank you for standing with immigrant women!
Sincerely,
Marielena Hincapié
