Dear John,

Last week, the national League of Conservation Voters (LCV) released their 2021 Environmental Scorecard! You can check it out online at scorecard.lcv.org.

For the past 50 years, LCV has published an annual National Environmental Scorecard to help hold our elected officials accountable for their environmental track record. But 2021 was different: following the violent January 6th insurrection and attacks by Republican members of Congress on our democracy, LCV scored votes on democracy and voting rights, in addition to environmental issues. To learn more about the Scorecard, check out scorecard.lcv.org.

Oregon’s U.S. Senators, Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley, received 100% scores for standing up for our future and our environment. They worked every day to protect Oregon’s people and places, stand up for our democracy, and fight for a better climate future by working to pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, and continuing to fight for the Build Back Better Act. Help us thank Senators Wyden and Merkley by sharing our post on Twitter [[link removed]]!

Oregon’s U.S. Representatives received high scores as well: Rep. Bonamici, Rep. Blumenauer, and Rep. DeFazio all received 100% scores, while Rep. Schrader got 91%. Only one member of the Oregon delegation received a failing score–Rep. Bentz with a score of 17%. Thank Reps. Bonamici, Blumenauer, and DeFazio, too, by sharing our post on Twitter [[link removed]]!

2021 was an unprecedented year for our climate and our democracy. Help us thank Senator Wyden and Merkley for their hard work protecting our democracy, fighting for climate and racial justice, and beginning to undo the damage of the Trump administration–please retweet our thank you posts for Senators Wyden and Merkley and Reps. Bonamici, Blumenauer, and DeFazio on Twitter!

Thank you,
Lindsey Scholten
Deputy Director, OLCV
