Happy International Women's Day, John!

Today we celebrate the social, cultural, and economic achievements of women all over the world, but also recognize that the fight is not over.

For decades, the Roe v. Wade decision has protected the right to reproductive care and allowed thousands of women to choose what's best for their body and their families, without the input of politicians and special interest groups.

But this fundamental right to bodily autonomy is under attack. Last year had the highest number of abortion restrictions passed into law in a single year, and this year, the attacks are only rising in numbers. It's a horrifying possibility that this might be the last time we celebrate International Women's Day while still having the protections of Roe v. Wade.

There's a lot at stake, John. Republican-led state legislatures in Florida and Arizona just became the latest to ban abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy. Bans like this empower regressive policy makers and also disproportionately affect women from low income households and women of color.

We can't make progress if we can't get to the finish line together. The right to a safe and legal abortion is fundamental to the fight for gender equality. On International Women's Day, we must rededicate ourselves to the fight for reproductive rights and the right to choose.

The Senate has tried to take up the Women’s Health Protection Act that we already passed in the House but Republicans have blocked it.

Will you sign my petition demanding the Senate pass the Women's Health Protection Act and fully protect the right to an abortion under the law?

Thank you,

Diana
