Friends,

Did you know that 4.5 million women have reported being threatened by an intimate partner with a gun? Did you know that 92% of all women killed by guns in high-income countries were killed in the U.S.? Did you know that transgender women, Black, Latina, and AAPI women are killed at even higher rates?

I’m guessing you’re not going to hear these statistics from most other people today. On International Women’s Day, it’s too easy to turn away, too easy to pretend that nothing is wrong.

But for the hundreds of women in the U.S. who are shot and killed each year by an intimate partner, there’s no pretending. For the millions of women who have been threatened by an intimate partner with a gun, there’s no turning away.

As we celebrate the women in our lives today, let’s also honor the women we have lost to senseless gun violence, and the many more women who live in fear of gun violence every day. Will you sign my petition to stand in solidarity with the women who live under the constant threat of gun violence? [[link removed]]

ADD YOUR NAME [[link removed]]Yes, today is a day to honor women. But what better way to honor them than to do right by them and fight the epidemic of gun violence that has terrorized our nation and especially the women living in it?

I will continue to fight against the gun lobby, NRA-controlled politicians, and the absolute madness of accepting our current gun laws as unchangeable. The House has passed several gun reform bills that the Senate – held hostage by 50 Republicans – has refused to consider.

I hope every Senator who tweets today about International Women’s Day is ready to pass meaningful gun reform. Please add your name to show that respect for women comes not from lip service one day a year, but from thoughtful reform of our gun laws >> [[link removed]]

Thank you for taking a stand.
