I’m no stranger to making history, John.
In 2020, I was the first openly queer Black woman elected to Florida’s state legislature. And when our team is successful in November – I’ll be the first Black person to represent Florida’s 13th congressional district.
My career, my advocacy, and my record of public service have all been rooted by my lived experience as a Black woman. I’m proud to be a leader in our community, and advocating for change as my authentic self.
But I’ll level with you – it’s far from easy running for office while being Black, queer, and a woman. I’ve heard it all too often from people in charge:
“Now’s not the right time for you.”
“You don’t have what it takes to win.”
“Michele, you need to wait your turn.”
Well, John, our community can’t wait for change, so I won’t wait either.
I’m not running for office just to make history – I’m running because I want to make a difference for people. Now’s the time, John: Chip in $3 to help my campaign get ahead today »
