Today, we celebrate powerful women of the past – and the girls who are shaping our future.  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

Save the Children Action Network is the political voice for kids.

Today’s girls are tomorrow’s leaders – but we must remove the barriers that stand in their way. Send a message to Congress: support the Girls LEAD Act to help girls everywhere learn, participate and grow!

Hi John –

Today, on International Women’s Day, we don’t just celebrate the incredible women change makers who came before us. We must work to empower the next generation of girls to make their mark on the world.

When 14-year-old Harriet was forced to flee her home in South Sudan, she feared her dreams of becoming a lawyer were all but lost. The more time she spent out of school, the more distant her future seemed.

Then, she enrolled in an accelerated learning program – and now she spends her time studying and writing songs about gender equality to remind girls that the world is at their fingertips.

John, far too many girls like Harriet lose their shot at a bright future to forms of gender-based violence like exploitation and early marriage. Urge your members of Congress to empower them instead by co-sponsoring the Girls Leadership, Engagement, Agency and Development (LEAD) Act!

Women make up more than half of the world’s population – but at the current rate of change, we won’t see gender equality represented in politics for another 145 years.

The Girls LEAD Act could change that. If passed, this bipartisan legislation would target foreign aid programs to promote girls’ civic engagement. This will help them build skills that will serve them and their communities for generations to come.

This could prevent millions of girls from having their voices silenced, their potential ignored and their contributions to our global future stifled.

History shows that women leaders help build more equitable democracies, stable economies and sustainable pathways to peace. Raise your voice to help a girl use hers – tell your members of Congress to support the Girls LEAD Act today!

Thank you for being a voice for kids,
