Hi John, All over the world, women in particular have been hit hard by the pandemic — through a rise in gender-based violence; higher loss of livelihoods; rising rates of maternal deaths and more. Today on International Women's Day, we want to take a moment to recognise some of the women in our lives who have shown strength, courage, or heart in difficult times. Do you know a care home worker who has shown resilience or compassion supporting elderly residents? Has your child's teacher gone above and beyond to keep students learning? Or maybe you just want to recognise someone who helped lift your spirits when you needed it most. Tell us, in just a few words, who this amazing woman is and why she has inspired you. We'll gather all the messages we receive and share them in a giant digital THANK YOU card later this week! |

We're also using #IWD2022 to highlight some of the women who have been doing amazing work in the fight against the pandemic — from fighting food insecurity to inventing solar-powered vaccine carriers. In the words of Michelle Obama, "no country can ever truly flourish if it stifles the potential of its women and deprives itself of the contributions of half its citizens." However you spend International Women's Day, take a moment to celebrate an inspiring woman. Victoria Zelvin, ONE.org |
