THE WORD FROM IRELAND - March 17, St. Patrick’s Day, 11:45am

To celebrate St Patrick's day, the Irish poet and playwright Damian Gorman gives a live reading from his acclaimed selected poems and memoir "As If I Cared" accompanied by live music from harpist Regina Delaney and uilleann piper Frank Gibbons, hosted by Ronnie Millar and Laura Tavares. Presented by Rian Immigrant Center and the Brookline Booksmith, this virtual event is free and will be streamed live.

Rian is pleased to partner with the Brookline Booksmith [[link removed]]. From March 1 through March 17th, the Booksmith will accept donations to support the vital work of the Rian Immigrant Center. Inspired by the Irish tradition of welcoming the stranger, the Booksmith has created a collection of essential writing about migration from around the world [[link removed]]— powerful voices that open our eyes and deepen our sense of shared humanity. A special community resource, we see the Booksmith is a "caol áit" — in Irish, a "thin place," where earth is close to heaven.

Please join us in this special space to hear the voices in these affecting and important books. Visit Rian’s table in the store on March 17 and support us by supporting the Brookline Booksmith.
