John – I’m excited to welcome Tom Winter to the 2022 Brand New Congress slate!

Tom is a former Montana State Legislator who has spent the last decade relentlessly organizing in Western Montana. In 2018, he flipped a district that went for Trump by 11 points by running an unapologetically progressive campaign rooted in working class values that run deep in Montana.

Tom fiercely believes in leading with his values. As a proud union member of IBEW 206, last year his campaign became the first to unionize in Montana state history! And when COVID19 essentially shut down his first run for Congress in 2020, Tom converted his team into a mutual aid organization delivering groceries and medications to people isolated by the pandemic.

As a freshman legislator in the Montana House, Tom carried a record 24 bills fighting for healthcare, student debt relief, minimum wage and overtime protections, legalizing recreational cannabis, and climate action – just to name a few.

As Tom says:

Tom believes that the rural West deserves, as much as any other community, champions who support a Green New Deal, protect our voting rights, and fight for healthcare for all.

Once he wins the primary, Tom will face Trump-acolyte Ryan Zinke, the former congressman turned Interior Secretary responsible for selling off protected lands and national monuments like Bears Ears to the highest bidder. Ryan Zinke is back and running for the newly created seat despite the fact he doesn’t even live in Montana.
