Today marks International Women’s Day (IWD). This year, IWD’s global campaign theme is #BreaktheBias, a principle that remains at the forefront of WIIS' mission.

WIIS is committed to closing the gender equality gap and reversing the effects of the “shadow” pandemic that has disproportionately impacted women of color and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Since its founding in 1987, WIIS has helped women advance to increasingly essential roles in the field of international security. WIIS's efforts have resulted in new and expanding opportunities for women, with an increased presence in foreign and defense affairs and representation at the highest private and public service levels.
