Hello, Friends
Monday, November 11, was Veterans Day. To all the American patriots who answered their country’s call and earned the title of veteran: thank you. America is grateful for your service and sacrifice.

On Veterans Day, I had the honor of speaking in Navarre, honoring those who have sacrificed in order to protect our freedom. In America, the strength that liberates the oppressed and protects our freedoms is forged by the sacrifice of our military families and veterans.

Faux Impeachment
This week, the Democrats moved forward with public impeachment hearings against President Trump. He is fighting against the ‘permanent Washington’ bureaucracy but this week makes clear that people in the bowels of government bureaucracy think the President serves at their pleasure. They’re dead wrong, and only just now realizing it.
Adam Schiff, Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, is presiding over the clownish impeachment hearings. On Wednesday, we saw George Kent and Ambassador William Taylor testify. These two individuals had substantive policy disagreements with the Trump Administration. They may think President Trump’s different way of interacting with other countries is impeachable, but I don’t think the country will.
Ambassador Taylor, the Democrats’ star witness, was asked by my friend and colleague Jim Jordan if he’d ever even met the President. Ambassador Taylor’s “no” resounded across the hearing room. The full exchange is well worth watching:

On the House Floor
This week on the House Floor, Congress voted overwhelmingly to pass the Protect the GI Bill Act. This important piece of legislation to allow veterans to transition well into higher education. With so many veterans in Florida’s First Congressional District, I’m proud that my colleagues on both sides of the aisle voted overwhelmingly in support of this measure.
We also passed the VA Tele-Hearing Modernization Act, which enables veterans with pending cases to appear remotely before the Board of Veterans’ Appeals. This will allow our veterans to be heard even when they are not close to a VA Center.
During my time in office, my priority has been to advocate for our active duty military and our veterans, and I’m proud Congress is working together on these critical issues.
AROUND THE DISTRICT
Congressional App Challenge
Over the weekend, I had the incredible privilege of hosting the Annual Congressional App Challenge. It is always exciting to see what our students are capable of and this year exceeded my expectations. Congratulations to first place winner Blake Gaither from Sims Middle School, second place winner Grace Minton from South Walton High School, and third place winner Collin Padgett from Northwest Florida Collegiate High. I am incredibly proud of our students for what they’ve accomplished. The future looks very bright!
Hurricane Michael Timber Grants
The U.S. Department of Agriculture recently announced Florida will receive $380 million in block grants for timber losses in the wake of Hurricane Michael. I’m encouraged by this announcement the Panhandle has waited patiently for this money since Michael hit.
Thanks to the help of President Trump, Governor DeSantis, Senator Rubio, and Senator Scott, Northwest Florida can continue rebuilding process the beautiful Emerald Coast. There is still a lot of work to be done, but this is a step in the right direction!
Rest in Peace, Chief Bradshaw
Northwest Florida recently suffered a heartbreaking loss to our community. Escambia County Fire Rescue Volunteer District Chief Dwain S. Bradshaw was killed last week as he responded to a crash near the Perdido River. Chief Bradshaw’s life was spent in service and dedication to his community, and I am deeply saddened by this tragic loss.
