Stand Strong for Those Who Serve Our Nation

Dear John,

With people around the globe continuing to watch the tragic situation unfolding in Ukraine, President Biden seems content to oversee the decline of America's role as a leader on the world stage.

He's proven from day one, he'll always put the extreme Left's interest ahead of any other consideration.

Some U.S. leaders are turning the heat up on Biden over his absurd energy policy, demanding that he crack down on Russia by reopening our pipelines. Yet when White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was questioned about reverting back to the Trump administration's policies, she continued to tow the green line.

Meanwhile, as Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) pointed out recently on Washington Watch, "It'd be nice if the State Department would be focused on real diplomacy versus... 'Oh, what pronoun do you what to use?'"

It's this same extremism infecting and distracting our military, Rep. Barry Moore (R-Ala.) noted. "General [Mike] Milley sent a pretty poor message when he was concerned about so many social engineering moves rather than what it really takes to fight and win a war... Woke generals and leadership in the House and the Senate -- those sort of things, they do not protect the American people... They need to be a thing of the past. We need to move on and get back to what really matters."

You might recall, under the Obama-Biden-era Department of Defense, hostility to conservative and religious viewpoints was a growing concern.

During a 2013 anti-discrimination briefing for Army soldiers at Camp Shelby, Mississippi declared that the American Family Association (AFA) should be considered a "hate group" simply for holding to the biblical definition of marriage.

Essentially, these service members were ordered not to engage with groups like AFA or FRC. Although the Pentagon eventually backtracked on this particular presentation, dozens of incidents displaying hostility to religion had a chilling effect on the free speech of Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Airmen, and Coast Guardsmen.

Shockingly, as commander-in-chief of the U.S. Armed Forces, President Biden has been writing his own radical agenda for our military.

This past December, another front opened up in the Left's push for social engineering. Using the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), liberal forces in Congress sought to draft our daughters.

But the united efforts of a quarter-million engaged conservatives like you stopped it and kept those provisions out of the NDAA -- shocking politicians and pundits.

FRC has proven that we can make a difference when we partner together and stand up for what's right.

In this critical hour, can you back up FRC with prayer and financial support? You can be the much-needed cavalry as we mobilize pastors, parents, and citizens like you to stand up for the rights of our military service members and chaplains.

Here's how this recent legislative victory happened. Every year, the NDAA comes up for consideration in the legislature. Considering the NDAA funds our military members' pay, it's vital that it passes.

After months of negotiations, it came up in Congress during the final weeks of the year, as many turned their attention to the holidays. Naturally, the far Left saw an opportunity.

Progressive members of Congress tried to use the bill as a bargaining chip, slipping their wish-list of extreme provisions into early drafts: free contraception, radical transgender policies, and mandating that women register for the military draft.

Working late despite holiday demands, FRC team members went to work defending families like yours and raised awareness of these deeply concerning provisions. After all, these far Left schemes had nothing to do with military readiness or defeating our adversaries!

To political veterans, it seemed like a losing battle. Then citizens like you -- sending over 250,000 emails and calls to Congress after prompts from FRC alerts -- lit a fire under a few conservative members.

Leaders like Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R-Mo.), and Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Ala.) were emboldened to stand up for common sense during the debate. As others like Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas), Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), and Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) joined the fight for sanity, these outrageous provisions were stripped from the NDAA bill.

Against all odds, these legislators and sound judgment prevailed in this fight.

Battles like this one are won or lost in the realm of public opinion just as much as the halls of power. That's why FRC has a presence in both places -- from grassroots to top influencers. Will you help resource FRC for what's ahead?

There's an important lesson here for Christians who care about the political process, and it's this: engagement with the issues can make a difference.

Will these efforts always succeed?

No. But sometimes, simply taking a stand gives leaders the confidence they need to fight harder. Even in the most unfavorable of circumstances, be encouraged that your efforts matter.

Today, more battles are on the horizon. In a war of ideas, our objective is to change hearts and minds as we speak truth.

It's a winning battle plan. Family Research Council hasn't just been responding defensively to the far Left's incursions into our churches, families, freedoms, and communities.

FRC initiatives, grounded in prayer, are actually going on the offense. For example, our Stand Courageous ministry and regional conferences, which disciple men on how to be the husbands and fathers God has called them to be, has strengthened countless families.

When you partner with FRC, it's not just moving the needle regarding public policies (although such battles are important). It's also fueling gospel-centered initiatives that change lives. What gets me fired up is seeing truth on the march -- thanks to friends like you.
