These 3 stats are alarming:
- Median rent across the country has risen 19% over the past year.
- Half of renters are rent burdened, meaning that housing costs take up more than 30% of their household’s income.

US foreclosure activity in January 2022 was the highest since the beginning of the pandemic.
We need a bold national housing plan, and that’s what I’ll fight for in Congress. Please chip in $3 — or whatever you can afford — to help me win and fight for housing in Congress.
My plan includes millions of units of social housing, vacancy and luxury taxes on additional homes, evictions as civil (not criminal) matters, and federal funding for community land trusts. Community land trusts are a way to keep land and housing permanently affordable into the future.
There are clear solutions to the housing crisis, but we need more people fighting to make them happen. I’ve risked arrest occupying empty buildings to get housing for our homeless community in Tacoma, and I’ll continue doing direct action when I’m in Congress.
