WILL Joins Redistricting Appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court
WILL joined an appeal by the Wisconsin Legislature to the U.S. Supreme Court arguing the maps submitted by Governor Tony Evers and selected by a majority on the Wisconsin Supreme Court, are a racial gerrymander that violates the Constitution’s equal protection guarantees. The U.S. Constitution makes clear that any government action based on race is subject to strict scrutiny.

STUDY: Federal Interventions Raised Price of Wisconsin Homes
A new WILL study found that federal interventions in the housing market, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, served to raise the price of an average Wisconsin home by as much as $11,000. As the cost of an average home in Wisconsin continues to rise to $240,000, the federal eviction moratorium is responsible for more than $3,000 of the increase, and the mortgage forbearance program is responsible for as much as $11,000.

Lake Geneva Lowers Short-Term Rental Fee, Refunds Property Owners
WILL and the City of Lake Geneva agreed to settle a challenge to Lake Geneva’s short-term rental fee that WILL brought on behalf of short-term-rental property owners in Lake Geneva. Lake Geneva lowered the fee from $750 to $400 in response to WILL’s challenge. The property owners represented by WILL are receiving a refund of $350.

This opportunity is ideal for someone interested in gaining development experience and growing their project-management skills in an entry-level role. Summer 2022 Policy Internship
WILL is seeking a Policy Intern for Summer of 2022. The Policy Intern will provide research and administrative support to the staff of WILL. This will be a 3-to-4-month position with ability to extend based on performance. The ideal candidate would be a self-starter pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree with a concentration in Economics, Political Science, Psychology, Communications/Journalism, or Statistics. This is a paid opportunity and requires a minimum 15 hour per week commitment, although greater availability would be ideal.
