After a year of historic economic growth and progress for working families, President Biden called on Congress to pass a bold agenda of policy initiatives to continue moving us forward.

That includes lowering the cost of prescription drugs and other necessities to grow the economy from the bottom up and middle out, tackling the climate crisis while creating millions of good-paying jobs, and comprehensive action to reduce gun violence.

He called on Congress to join Connecticut in establishing a comprehensive federal paid family and medical leave program and raising the federal minimum wage to $15/hour — both policies that Connecticut legislators have turned into law here at the state level.

He also called on Republicans to step up and join Democrats in passing a “unity agenda” of popular bipartisan legislation focused on tackling America’s opioid epidemic and mental health crisis, delivering American veterans the full support they’ve earned, and investing in research to end cancer as we know it.

As President Biden said in his address to Congress, “We are stronger today than we were a year ago. And we will be stronger a year from now than we are today.”

Thanks for sharing your feedback as we build a stronger America.
