While Congress investigates the January 6th attempted election coup, Trump
is endorsing and backing 2022 candidates to prepare for 2024.

New York Magazine reports that, in particular, "Trump is aggressively
intervening in state contests for a less high-profile office: secretary of
state. At stake is control of the election machinery in states where Trump
failed to prevail in his false but vociferous claims that Joe Biden’s
victory was illegitimate."

To protect our democracy, it is imperative that Democratic, pro-voter,
pro-democracy Secretary of State candidates have the resources to defeat
anti-democracy Republicans who promote Trump's Big Lie.

New York Magazine lays out Trump’s strategy:

"Trump has endorsed candidates in Arizona, Georgia, and Michigan, three
very close 2020 states where he got no cooperation from secretaries of
state in advancing his wild claims of election fraud.

"If some of Trump’s candidates do prevail in November, it might make him
more confident about running in 2024. He’ll know that in the event of
another close race, his acolytes will put their thumbs on the scales and
make victory that much more likely."

In most states, the chief election official is the Secretary of State.
Having Democratic, pro-voter, pro-democracy Secretaries of State in office
come 2024 is more important than ever.
