Let's rally so cancer loses

Hi John,

Months before he lost his courageous battle with multiple myeloma, my father told me to always remember that “without your health, nothing else matters.” Without your health, you lose out on time … time with loved ones, to witness milestone events, to achieve your dreams...

It is this heartbreaking, simple truth that has guided my choices, my work and how I choose to give back to our community and society over the last nearly 20 years. It is the foundation of my beliefs around health care. Together, we must achieve affordability, equity and cures to some of the most devastating diseases and chronic illnesses affecting our families at growing rates.

That's why I am honored to have accepted the nomination to be a part of the 2022 Man & Woman of the Year campaign to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).

This special 10-week campaign involves 10 local candidates, all working to break fundraising records and bring the community together to help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. In fact, over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers.

Additionally, many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are also now in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers.

Time wasn't on my family’s side, but we can change this for so many families who are in the fight right now. That's why I have set an aggressive fundraising goal and our team is working to raise as much as possible for this special campaign.

I may not be running a political campaign this cycle, but I will continue to give back and advocate where I can, bringing our community together to make a collective impact.
