What It Means To Be A Scary Mommy Now
[[link removed]]
Welcome to our new, spiffy newsletter, which accompanies our brand-spanking-new
website design over at scarymommy.com
[[link removed]]
(go check it out!).

I’m Kate, Scary Mommy’s new(ish) editor-in-chief, and, along with my wonderful
team, we’ll be bringing you all the great stuff you’ve long loved from Scary
Mommy, along with a few new bells and whistles.

A word about what it means to be a Scary Mommy in 2022: It’s no secret that moms
have had it the worst since the pandemic began over two years ago. We’ve been at
our breaking points time and time again and yet told to carry on, without much
meaningful support to speak of from our employers or government. We’ve yelled –
hell, we’ve primal screamed – for help and been offered little in return except
“you’re doing great, sweetie.”

So it’s through that lens – the months-past-the-breaking-point,
where-do-we-even-go-from-here lens – that Scary Mommy takes a moment to begin
anew. You’ll see a warmer, more modern looking site than you’re used to, but
we’re still the same girl underneath the new veneer. With this new Scary Mommy,
I promise to help bring you not only those biting, truthful first-person
accounts of motherhood, sex & relationships, and mental health & well-being (and
much more), but also stories about things you care about not just as moms but as
women (*gasp*) of a certain age.

We’ll hit your inbox every day, just as we always have, and look forward to
further creating a dynamic community together. We’re so, so so glad you’re here!

Samm Burnham Davidson has four kids – including a pandemic-era baby – so she
has thoughts on whether the kids will all be OK on the other end of this. This

Teens What I Said When My Son Asked Me If Parenting Was Worth It
[[link removed]]
We’ve all thought it in those dark and twisty moments when you’re this close
to a breakdown. And – surprise – it turns out that maybe our kids pick up on
that, shall we say uncertainty, you might have in your decision to procreate.
Vanessa Kroll Bennett talks about the moment her kid asked her if this whole
parenting thing was worth it, and what it made her think about as a result. Read

What This Texas Mom Of A Trans Kid Wants You To Know
[[link removed]]
One night while doomscrolling, I came across this badass Texas mom named Amber
Briggle, whose teenage son is trans. Of course, she shouldn’t have to be
fighting for his rights, but this is Texas in 2022, so here we are. I had the
privilege of speaking with Briggle last week. Here, in her own words, is what
she wants you to know about what her family has been going through since
Governor Abbott’s ludicrous order

in February.
