February flew by, but we managed squeeze in everything from our Promise to Progress Tour events to interviews with John to meeting new supporters. And over the next few weeks, we have even more planned!

GIRL POWER: In honor of International Women’s Day, Michelle Siri and Melissa King will be hosting a fireside chat to discuss their experiences, what they’ve learned from the strong women in their lives, and what Michelle and John’s plans are to create a more equitable Maryland for all of us.

THE CLIMATE CANDIDATE: John will be participating in the Gubernatorial Candidate Climate Forums on Tuesday, March 8th and Wednesday, March 9th. He will be laying out his plans for our state to combat the climate crisis, and showing once again that he is THE climate candidate.

CNBC: Former Education Secretary under Obama calls on Biden to cancel student debt
“John B. King, Jr., who served as education secretary under former President Barack Obama, has joined a number of other leading government officials calling on President Joe Biden to cancel student debt through executive action. King, who’s running for governor of Maryland, wrote in an editorial in Business Insider on Wednesday that the country’s outstanding student loan balance is ‘indisputably a crisis.’”

MARYLAND MATTERS: Advocates Rally Md. Lawmakers to Pass Paid Family Medical Leave This Year
“‘I think there’s a growing realization that paid family leave is a moral obligation of the state, but it’s also good for businesses,’ King said in an interview. ‘Paid family leave and universal quality childcare together are essential to producing an economy that is more just, particularly for working women.’”

On Thursday, February 17 in Annapolis, John officially filed to be on the ballot with his running mate Michelle Siri and, together, they launched their statewide Promise to Progress tour!

On Friday, February 18 John toured small businesses across Takoma Park.

On Sunday, February 27 John joined IMPACT Ministries in Hagerstown as their keynote speaker at their annual Black History Month celebration.
