Since Putin invaded the free nation of Ukraine, Americans have stepped up. We are donating to charities that are providing humanitarian aid, we are renting Airbnb in Ukraine to get money directly to families, and we are praying. These are our American values--to stand up when people are in need, and we can do more.
Months ago, I warned that cutting off our American energy independence would create instability internationally. I opposed stopping the Keystone XL pipeline that would have delivered oil and gas to Europe instead of having to rely on Russia. I called on and supported putting sanctions on Germany's Nord Stream 2 pipeline, which funds Russian gas production. In the end, less American energy on the international market fuels Putin's ability to murder his neighbors.
On Saturday, I had a call with President Zelenskyy of Ukraine--he specifically asked for the world to stop buying Russian oil and gas-because it's just equipping and empowering Putin.
We must stop Putin's aggression on Ukraine--if we don't stop him now, he will keep going through Europe. Friend, will you stand with me? Do you think the US should continue to buy Russian oil and gas?
