Last Thursday, the House successfully passed the Honoring Our PACT Act, which stands for Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics.
Friends,
During last week's State of the Union address, President Biden urged Congress to act on legislation aiding veterans exposed to cancer-causing toxins during their service.
This issue affects hundreds of thousands of families in America. In a 2020 member survey conducted by Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, an advocacy organization found that 86% of respondents were exposed to toxins during their service.
Notably, the President’s own son, Major Beau Biden, passed away from brain cancer in 2015. The President acknowledges the possibility that his son’s cancer could have been related to his exposure to toxins while serving in the Army National Guard.
The Democratic House took swift action after the President’s plea. On Thursday morning, the House successfully passed the Honoring Our PACT Act, which stands for Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics.
