Biden's Energy Crisis

I'm sure you've noticed that gas prices are going up – way up.  In fact, they're going up at a record rate.  A barrel of oil jumped $5.00 last night on the global market.  Gas prices are up 40 cents in the past week, and they're quickly headed to record highs.

It won't be long before these soaring energy costs push our country into a recession, and I think it's important to understand how and why we got into this terrible position.

When Donald Trump left office, we were energy independent.  America was a leading energy producer.  Even during the height of the Trump economic boom in 2019 gas prices averaged just $2.60 – down from 2018.  Wouldn't you like to be paying $2.60 a gallon for gas today?

But when Joe Biden took office, he literally walked into the White House after his inauguration and declared war on the American energy industry.

Among his "Day One" actions in the Oval Office was blocking a critical pipeline from Canada, and putting us back into the absurd Paris Climate Accord

In the days that followed, he blocked permits for drilling on federal land, limited offshore permits, banned additional drilling in Alaska, and pushed higher taxes and more regulations on energy companies.

Not surprisingly, costs for gas and home heating oil went up as Joe Biden limited production and supply.  But they didn't go up initially as much as experts predicted.  Well, now we're finding out why.

The Biden Administration started buying record amounts of Russian oil.  That's right – Biden started buying oil from Vladimir Putin.  (What does Vlad have on Joe Biden?)

Biden is also trying to buy oil from Venezuela's Marxist dictator.  He's trying to get oil from Libya and Saudi Arabia.  He's even trying to cut a deal with the mullahs of Iran where we end sanctions on Iranian terrorists and human rights abusers and start buying their oil

Let's be absolutely clear about that:  Instead of siding with the hard-working men and women of the American energy industry, Biden is siding with foreign dictators.

Instead of doing business with Dallas, he's doing business with Moscow.  Instead of doing business with Oklahoma City, he's doing business with Tehran.

It's bad enough that your family budget is being hammered by Biden's absurd energy policies.  But they also contributed enormously to the current foreign policy crisis in Ukraine by funding Putin's war machine and making Europe dependent on Russian energy.

Time To Get Serious

This is a no-brainer for the American people – 70% of Americans support increased domestic energy production.  Only 18% oppose it.  But Joe Biden and those in power happen to be among that radical fringe minority!

This is a policy of such incredible stupidity that Biden should be a one-term president for this alone, not to mention his other disasters.

Hopefully, Biden will be out of office sooner rather than later.  And when that time comes, we cannot forget that we just went through a time when virtually every major power center in America was committed to destroying our own energy industry, while making us dependent on communist China for so-called "green energy."

Biden said himself that he wants to phase out the fossil fuel industry.  Major hedge funds on Wall Street are waging proxy battles to force green activists on the boards of major oil companies.  Biden is pushing the banking system to impose devastating regulations (here and here) on American energy companies.

Well, now we're on the edge of World War III, while facing crippling energy costs.  This is Joe Biden's energy crisis.  The left owns this.

If we're ever going to be a serious nation again, we must get back to promoting reliable energy under our control.  Trying to control the temperature 100 years from now while crushing our economy and making us dependent on foreign enemies is simply insane.

Any candidate running for president who wants our support must be able to clearly say, "I want America to provide our own energy from our own wells and pipelines to protect us in a dangerous world."

A Final Thought

It's widely known that Vladimir Putin thought his war in Ukraine would be a quick victory, partly because he believed in the superiority of the Russian military and the weakness of the Ukrainian military.  But he also believed that America and the West are decadent and would not resist him.  On the latter point, he may be right.

We're fighting over pronouns, and arguing about how many genders there are.  While the family is falling apart, we can't say with any certainty what marriage is today.  We're praising radical Marxist theories on race, and applauding those who protest our national anthem.

Osama bin Laden also believed the West was decadent.  Xi Jinping says the same thing in private speeches to the Communist Party leadership.  (Speaking of Xi, he wants the "Taiwan question" settled sooner rather than later.)

There's no doubt about the growing dangers of Western decadence.  Our decadence already results in far too much death and destruction through abortion, rampant crime in the streets, broken families and drug overdoses.

But it could get much worse.  Our obvious decadence temps our evil enemies to test us, which could lead to a terrible miscalculation, whether it's Russia in Ukraine or communist China in Taiwan.

The other reason is that this nation is unique.  America was built on the belief that our liberty comes from God, not government.  Abandoning our Judeo-Christian values risks the loss of God's hand of protection upon us.

George Washington clearly believed that God's providence enabled us to defeat the greatest empire in the world – the British Empire.  And in his farewell address, Washington urged Americans to maintain their virtue for the good of the country.

We are a nation of miracles.  And because the hand of God was upon us, we survived a devastating civil war, we defeated Nazism and Soviet communism, and we created the greatest engine of prosperity the world has ever known.

But it is promised in the scriptures that God also removes His hand of protection from rebellious people, and we are perilously close, if we have not already crossed the line, to losing God's blessing.

Exposing The Radical Left

Elie Mystal is not a household name, but he is representative of the rising progressive left that increasingly dominates today's Democrat Party.  Not surprisingly, he's a frequent guest on MSNBC, and last Friday he even landed an appearance on ABC's "The View," where he made headlines for trashing the Constitution.

Seriously, Mystal said the Constitution was "trash."  His remark even stunned Joy Behar, who asked, "What did you say?"  So, Mystal explained:

"It's kind of trash. It was written by slavers and colonists and white people willing to make deals with slavers and colonists. . . This document was without the consent of black and brown people in this country and without the consent of women. . .  the very least we can do is ignore what those slavers and colonists and misogynists thought and interpret the Constitution in a way that makes sense for our modern world."

There you have it, folks.  That's the left-wing, Marxist, critical race theory view of the Constitution.  It was written by evil people, so let's trash it and interpret it however we want to in order to "fundamentally transform" America.
