Friend,

I want to make sure everyone saw the news that broke this week. On Election Night last Tuesday, as it was becoming clear that Gov. Matt Bevin had been defeated, thousands of Twitter bots emerged on the scene to try to cast doubt on the election results.

These fake accounts began spreading misinformation about how the election was conducted, sowing confusion and damaging Kentuckians’ faith in the democratic process. We don’t yet know who was behind it, but this is right out of Putin’s playbook—with an intent to influence our electoral system.

It’s scary, but it appears that Mitch McConnell is just fine with this kind of interference. As I write this, he’s blocking bipartisan election security bills in the Senate that could make sure this, or worse, doesn’t happen.

If this could happen here in Kentucky in 2019, it could happen again in 2020. This isn’t about partisanship. It’s about faith in our democracy—and anyone turning a blind eye to interference in our elections, as Mitch is, should be relieved of their constitutional duties.

If you agree, chip in now to help me defeat Mitch next year—no matter how many bots try to muddy the conversation:
