I’m writing to you today about a close friend of mine in the Senate -- New Hampshire Senator Maggie Hassan.

Maggie is a true public servant for the Granite State. She’s spent her entire career fighting to expand health care access, combat the opioid crisis, and keep Americans safe from gun violence.

As we approach the midterm elections, the GOP is doubling down on its efforts to defeat her this November. And media outlets are saying she’s one of the most vulnerable Democrats up for reelection in the Senate.

Look, this isn’t just about politics. But if Maggie loses her seat this November, it’s going to be really difficult for Democrats to keep control of the Senate -- which would mean passing control of the chamber back over to Mitch McConnell.

We already know how hard it is to pass meaningful legislation with a narrow majority in Congress. We can’t afford to lose a single seat -- least of all Maggie Hassan’s.
