Dear John,
I just got back from a monumental meeting—one that could change the way the world views farmed animals.
Mercy For Animals senior vice president of international Lucas Alvarenga and I attended the fifth session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA 5.2), where representatives from 193 countries met to discuss the best ways to protect our planet.
We came with one critical goal: to ensure every world leader knew the detrimental impact of factory farming on the environment.
Animal agriculture is a major contributor to climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution—and current animal welfare standards play a huge role.
Now, thanks to countless animal advocates, global leaders have not only heard our concerns but passed a resolution on animal welfare!
This is a major step toward a more compassionate world for all. |
