What would a nuclear war be like? - CND webinar

With the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine reigniting fears of a possible nuclear confrontation between Russia and NATO, CND is hosting an expert webinar to discuss the realities of a nuclear conflict and what it would mean for the world.

  • Thursday, March 10th, 7pm
  • Online - register today

The ongoing tensions over Ukraine means we are the closest to the use of a nuclear weapon since 1945. While previous nuclear stand-offs like the Cuban missile crisis were solved through diplomatic talks, we now find ourselves in the midst of a shooting war where talk of de-escalation is seen as a sign of weakness. At this time, it is important to remind ourselves what a catastrophic disaster a nuclear confrontation would be, the long-lasting impacts it would have for society and our environment, and why their use must be avoided at all costs.

With guest speakers including Dr Rebecca Johnson, CND Vice-President and leading campaigner on the impacts of nuclear weapons; Dr Stuart Parkinson, Scientists for Global Responsibility. Chaired by Kate Hudson, CND General Secretary.
