Dire: While Ukraine valiantly fights to protect its homeland from Russian invasion, the military and humanitarian situation is dire, writes Luke Coffey, director of the Douglas and Sarah Allison Center for Foreign Policy. It’s even possible Russia could attack a NATO country.
The only good news: "Russia is not meeting its intended military objectives at this point in the campaign,” Coffey writes.
What the U.S. should do: Supplying weapons to Ukraine, sanctioning any country that aids Russia, training Ukrainian fighters, providing medical care and training for combat injuries are on the list. "There is no time to waste,” Coffey writes.
