John,

This Women’s History Month, I am grateful for the women who came before me. As the first woman to hold my seat, I have a deep respect for the trailblazers who advocated for equal rights and opportunity.

They paved the way for generations – including the historic number of women elected to 2018’s freshman class – and I thank them.

Many of those same advocates, including my mother, have pushed for the ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment. In 2020, Virginia became the 38th and final state needed to ratify the ERA – a long-overdue milestone in the push for equality.

However, we still have work to do. Virginia’s new Republican Attorney General recently withdrew from the legal effort to urge the federal government to recognize Virginia’s ratification of the ERA. This is a major roadblock in the push to include women’s equality in our Constitution.

I am committed to taking the next step towards Constitutional equality in our country.

I hope you’ll support my re-election campaign so I can continue standing up for equality.
