Friend -- There can be no excuse for raising millions for candidates who are actively working to undermine our democracy.
J Street

Friend --

I wanted to make sure you saw the news: AIPAC PAC’s first-ever slate of endorsees includes 37 Republicans who voted to overturn the presidential election results just hours after the January 6 insurrection.

The list includes Jim Jordan, who is currently refusing to cooperate with investigators over his actions on the day of the riot. More than half AIPAC’s Republican endorsees voted to overturn the results.

At J Street, we believe that no matter your position in Israel, there can be no excuse for raising millions of dollars for candidates who threaten our democracy.

AIPAC is running attack ads painting progressive Democrats as terrorist sympathizers and fighting against President Biden’s efforts to restore the Iran deal. They continue to lobby Congress against any meaningful action to deter settler violence, settlement expansion or discriminatory evictions. Now, they’re committing to financially support dozens of Republicans who voted to throw out our election results.

Together, we must show our leaders that AIPAC does not represent our community. As we go toe to toe with AIPAC and fight to protect our shared democratic values, we’d deeply appreciate your grassroots support.

If AIPAC doesn’t speak for you either, please consider a contribution to J Street to help fight back >>

PS. I’m forwarding below an excerpt from an email our Comms VP sent Thursday.

At J Street, we’re proud to lead the fight for democratic freedoms for Israelis and Palestinians -- and right here at home.

It’s why we announced our 'Democracy Pledge' last year, calling on all Jewish and pro-Israel organizations to join together in a public commitment to refuse to support any candidate who voted against certifying the results of the 2020 election or publicly supported the 'Big Lie' that Donald Trump won the election.

After AIPAC refused to take the pledge, I expected this to be bad -- but not this bad. More than half of the Republican candidates AIPAC has just endorsed voted against the certification of the 2020 presidential election results.

We must not let this pass unnoticed.

Together, we must make clear that AIPAC’s support for these candidates endangers American democracy and undermines the democratic freedoms of the millions of American Jews and pro-Israel Americans they claim to represent.

And together, we will continue to make clear that their efforts to defend the occupation and block opposition to the settlement movement undermines the democratic freedoms of Israelis and Palestinians as well -- just as it undermines the pro-Israel, pro-peace vision the majority of Jewish Americans share.

We must push back against their influence on Capitol Hill, stand firm for our democratic freedoms and make support for candidates who undermine democracy a disqualifying red line.

We don’t have right-wing mega-donors, but we do have you. Please consider a contribution today >>

J Street is the political home for pro-Israel, pro-peace Americans who want Israel to be secure, democratic and the national home of the Jewish people. Working in American politics and the Jewish community, we advocate policies that advance shared US and Israeli interests as well as Jewish and democratic values, leading to a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
