Hello Friend,

My name is Carmella Gadsen and it’s my privilege to introduce myself as
your new Storybank Organizer for the Institute for a Progressive Nevada! 

I’m a native Nevadan and graduated from Canyon Springs High School and the
Leadership and Law Preparatory Academy. I received my undergraduate degree
in Psychology at UNLV, where I fell in love with civic engagement. My
professional background includes sexual assault and domestic violence
prevention and intervention, and legislative advocacy for policies that
improve the quality of life for women and families. When I’m not working,
I love spending time with my friends and family, practicing yoga in my
backyard, and taking an impromptu trip out of town to one of our
neighboring states!  

As the Storybank Organizer, my mission at IPN will be to identify and
gather the stories of people in the community who have the most need to be
empowered to make their voice heard. Right now, my focus is on stories
about healthcare, student loan debt, and economic need. By organizing
those with the most at stake to share their experiences, I'll be working
with my team to make sure their voice is broadcast to the world to force
change the only way we know how: with people power!

In a time when our daily news headlines are riddled with one human rights
abuse after the other, I find beauty in the number of individuals who have
come forward to make a difference. It is my personal mission in life to
use advocacy, education, and a service-based approach to create systemic
change and ensure that everyone is truly able to pursue their dreams. I'll
be working hard over the coming weeks to establish this program. But in
the meantime, if you have a story that deserves to be heard, shoot me a
