It’s pretty surreal that a former president spends his time hurling insults like “watermelon-head” or “pencil neck” at his political opponents (yes, he really said that about Adam, how childish!). But that’s Donald Trump — and he’s inspired wannabes up and down the ranks of the GOP. No matter what he says or does, Trump’s radical right-wing base will stand by his unconscionable actions and demeaning slander.
But here’s the good news — there are millions of people who still believe in basic decency, justice, and protecting our democracy. And this grassroots team is made up of people who not only believe in those values but are actively fighting to protect them. So even though the threats and insults can be a drain, Adam never loses hope — he knows there are millions of people fighting alongside him.
In 2020, this grassroots team helped us protect the House majority, secure the Senate majority by one vote, and send President Biden to the White House. We’ve restored dignity to the Oval Office and begun to reassert American leadership at a time it’s never been needed more.
But our work isn’t finished, it’s only the beginning.
We need to pass climate solutions, voting rights protections, universal health care for all, and to abolish the filibuster to keep our country on the path to progress. We’ve got our work cut out for us, but Adam is confident this grassroots team is up for the challenge. John, the first step in our fight for change is protecting and expanding our slim Democratic majorities in November.
