Recently, talks about banning lawmakers from trading stocks are gaining momentum in Congress. And just last month, Senators Jon Ossoff (D-GA) and Mark Kelly (D-AZ) introduced legislation that would BAN Members and their immediate families from buying and selling stocks. This is huge news.

For too long, legislators have made stock decisions with access to information not available to public investors. That’s not fair, and causes a severe conflict of interest for the folks we rely on to regulate large corporations and hold cheaters accountable.

According to an analysis by Business Insider, 54 members violated the STOCK Act rules in the last year alone. The 2012 STOCK Act was designed to prevent insider trading and conflicts of interest in Congress. It's clear that law didn’t go far enough.

We have had enough of politicians on BOTH sides – from Kelly Loeffler to Dianne Feinstein – taking advantage of their position for financial gain. It is time we ban legislators from being able to do so.
