John – Before the pandemic, upwards of half of all Americans lived in areas designated as “childcare deserts” – places where there weren’t enough childcare providers for the number of families needing that service.
But as the pandemic forced tens of thousands of childcare centers to close permanently, the problem is now significantly worse.
Those who ARE able to find an open spot for their child may not be able to afford it. The average cost of childcare is nearly $1K per month. That’s almost as much as a 2nd rent payment.
The answer is simple: universal childcare. Universal pre-K (short for pre-Kindergarten) is just one of the policies originally included in the Build Back Better plan that progressives like BNC’s Cori Bush fought for.
It passed the House, but like so many urgent policies, it died in the Senate – because Joe Manchin didn’t want to “give away” another benefit to working families.
John, aren’t you sick of conservative Democrats holding us hostage? Well, good news. You can do something about it. You can help Brand New Congress flip the Senate swing vote to PROGRESSIVES.
BNC has three Senate candidates up for election in May. All three are running for seats currently held by the GOP. If we flip these seats, we can help Democrats hold the Senate – but more importantly, we can control the swing vote.
Let’s strip Joe Manchin of his power. Pitch in $25, $50, or $100 now to elect a progressive Senate majority. [[link removed]]

John, childcare is a massive burden to working families. If you’re lucky enough to find an opening for your child, you’d better hope you’re lucky enough to be able to afford it.
If you can’t afford the extra $1,000 per month, you’re probably leaning on friends and family to juggle childcare arrangements around everyone’s work schedule.
It doesn’t have to be this way. We could solve this problem and start providing high-quality, free childcare to EVERY family. But we need to control the swing vote in the Senate – and keep growing our progressive, working-class caucus in the House.
Brand New Congress has elections from now until November, and any one of them could be decided by a handful of votes. We helped Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick win her race by FIVE votes, and those five votes put her in Congress.
With 8 elections coming up in May, we can’t leave anything to chance. Will you join us and make a contribution of any amount right now? [[link removed]]

Since 2016 BNC has led the way in advancing popular policies like Medicare for All and the Green New Deal. We invest EARLY to help grassroots candidates succeed. We recruited and elected AOC in 2018 and Cori Bush in 2020 alongside Jamaal Bowman and Rashida Tliab. And we have our first win of 2022: Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick won her primary by FIVE votes thanks to BNC.
We have elections from now until November, and our candidates are counting on your support. Pitch in today and join us as we take over Congress and return power to the people.
