President Biden didn't mention student debt relief once in his State of the Union. [link removed]
Friend,
As I listened to President Biden's first State of the Union this week, I was
inspired. But there were two words I didn't hear: Student debt.
Let's be clear: Student debt is a crisis that demands urgent attention. And with
the stroke of a pen, the president could deliver total student loan relief to 36
million Americans and make huge strides toward closing the racial wealth gap.
Student loan payments resume in less than two months, so I'm asking you to take action. We don't have a moment to lose. Sign my petition calling for President Biden to cancel $50,000 in student loan debt per person now: [link removed] SIGN ON → [link removed]
For decades, we've told students that college is a ladder up to opportunity. But
for so many, it's a heavy anchor pulling them down. By using his authority to
cancel student debt, President Biden would allow millions of people to buy a
home, start a business, save for retirement, and pursue their American dream.
This is President Biden's chance to reverse decades of economic injustice and
close the racial wealth gap. But we need to keep up the pressure until it gets done.
Please, sign your name next to mine and show President Biden that student loan forgiveness can't wait. [link removed] SIGN ON → [link removed]
Sincerely,
Chuck Schumer
