Friend,

It's finally happening – there is real potential for Donald Trump to be criminally charged for his relentless lies, conspiracies, and reckless attempts to overturn the 2020 election.

In a new court filing just this week, the bipartisan committee investigating the January 6 Capitol insurrection alleged that former President Donald Trump and his allies engaged in multiple crimes: conspiracy to defraud the United States and obstruction of an official proceeding of Congress – which, in this case, was the certification of the presidential election.

The committee laid out that after Election Day, the former president had been directly and repeatedly told that he had lost the election and that his claims of fraud were false. In other words, there is ample evidence that he was aware that his lies about a stolen election were indeed just that – a Big Lie. But he intentionally spread this corrosive conspiracy among the American people anyway.

I've been calling for months for criminal charges to be considered against Donald Trump for his role in inciting the insurrection and his brazen attacks on our democracy, and this development is a massive step toward accountability. But we know that obstructionist Republicans will do everything in their power to shield Donald Trump and his allies – including sweeping the facts under the rug.

That's why it couldn't be more important for grassroots Democrats like you to continue demanding justice and accountability. I'm looking for 1,000 members of this team to speak out before midnight tonight, and I'm counting on your response:

Should criminal charges be considered for Donald Trump and his allies for their un-American attempts to overthrow our democratic election?
