We have a multi-million-dollar industry operating illegally in our state and despite some minimum efforts to enforce state law – it largely runs without any regulation or taxation.
Folks, I’m talking about cannabis.
I am the only statewide candidate supporting legislation that would provide controlled access to cannabis in North Carolina.
Think about the impact of such an effort. Overnight we could eliminate a black-market that too often leaves young minority teenagers facing our criminal justice system. We could clear the records of nonviolent possessions of small amounts. We also could regulate and tax cannabis providing more than $450 million a year in new revenues to help take care of aging parents or other critical behavioral health needs.
