John,
The Republican Party claims to be the party of fiscal responsibility — yet it spent $200 million on a failed recall campaign in California.
That’s $200 million that could’ve gone towards building affordable housing, improving our public transportation, investing in clean energy infrastructure, and doing more for hard-working Californians. Instead, it was blown on a futile attempt to recall the Governor of California... which failed by over 20 points, by the way. It was a total waste, and Republicans know it.
This is just one example of the grotesque, multibillion-dollar dark money campaign apparatus that conservative billionaires and corporations flood into the political system. And despite their massive failure in California, elsewhere they seem to receive big returns on their investment in the form of tax breaks, favorable laws, and willing ears from the Republicans they foist into office.
Just imagine how much we could accomplish for everyday Americans if the GOP and their wealthy donors directed their funds towards building a better, more equitable future for all Americans. If we actually worked together, the U.S. could be in its strongest position in years — but the truth is the GOP has tragically chosen to place party loyalty above country.
This is why we need to keep Adam in Congress, so he can continue to fight to reform our broken campaign finance system and make sure corporations and billionaires pay their fair share. It’s time for a new era of leadership that will always prioritize the best interests of the American people.
So, John — can you chip in $10 right now to help us reach our goal? Every dollar goes to our work helping new and incumbent Democrats get elected this November.
