The State of Our Union is in Sharp Decline
The state of our union is in disarray, and President Biden’s failed agenda has resulted in crises that are hurting families at home, and leaving our allies around the world at greater risk.
This week, millions of concerned Americans watched President Biden avoid taking responsibility for his self-created crises. It has been just over a year since President Biden has taken office, and he continues to steer the United States towards complete and utter chaos, with no plan other than to double down on his same failed radical policies.
In Joe Biden’s America, crime and taxes are going up, while paychecks and opportunity are going down. Overseas, Russia and China are ruthlessly maximizing their power – all at the expense of innocent lives. The state of our union is in sharp decline, and President Biden is to blame.
When he ran for President, Joe Biden promised Americans that he would ‘heal’ and ‘unify’ the country. Instead, Biden has failed to deliver on his campaign promises and has refused to even meet with House Republican Leadership to work on good faith solutions that will address our country’s growing problems.
President Biden has made it clear that he is doubling down on big government socialism. My House Republican colleagues and I will fight against his failed, leftist agenda, and will work to lower inflation, cut energy costs for American families, fight crime, and restore common sense and freedom in our country.
Demanding President Biden End His War on American Energy
This week, I led a letter to President Biden with House Republican Leadership and 80 of my Republican colleagues demanding an end to his war on American energy and detailing actions he can take immediately to reverse his anti-American energy policies that have given Vladimir Putin a critical source of leverage to carry out his attack on Ukraine.
The U.S. is the world’s energy superpower—we have enough energy to meet demand at home and support allies abroad. We became a net energy exporter during the Trump Administration, giving America economic strength and geopolitical leverage over Russia, China, Iran, and other dictatorships around the world.
But the Biden Administration reversed course and is undermining America’s energy dominance with disastrous policies, quickly reversing the attainment of a five-decades-long goal of achieving energy independence. The Biden Administration now routinely begs OPEC and Russia for oil while enacting policies that increase our energy and economic dependence on them, leading to higher prices at the pump for hard-working families.
It is time to reverse these harmful policies and institute an energy plan that sends an unmistakable signal to the world. We have the world’s largest oil and gas reserves; we can produce these energy resources more cleanly and efficiently than anywhere else in the world; and we should produce them. We will make clear that more U.S. production means greater energy security for our allies, lower prices for consumers at home, and more strength abroad as we undermine the Russia-China alliance.
Meeting With Students From Christian Brothers School
I enjoyed getting to meet with a group of students from Christian Brothers School on the steps of the United States Capitol with my colleague Congressman Troy Carter this week. The group was fantastic and very engaged as we talked about current events and the storied history of the Capitol building. I have no doubt these students will go on to do extraordinary things as our nation's future leaders.
