Welcome to the House Conservatives Trust Bi-Weekly Newsletter. This is a chance for us at HCT to share an inside look at news and events shaping our fight to take back the House for Republicans in 2022.

Joe Biden’s state of disunion was yet another example of how it’s only taken 13 months for his presidency to fail. He’s been unable to unite the country. He’s failed to engage in bipartisan leadership on the Hill, opting to revive his failed Build Back Better plan on party-line votes. His federal agencies have labeled parents as ‘domestic terrorists.’ Biden has overseen the most significant influx of dangerous illegal immigrants and hard drugs flooding our southern border in American history.

And America’s adversaries have taken notice of our weak President. That’s why Vladimir Putin took advantage of our weakened global position and launched an invasion of Ukraine—once more showcasing Biden’s failed leadership on our domestic energy policy. Immediately after taking office, he shut down America’s Keystone Pipeline and canceled all drilling on federal lands. Then, he greenlit a Russian oil pipeline, the Nord Stream 2.  It’s no wonder Joe Biden refuses to sanction Putin’s oil and gas industry: he does not want to admit responsibility. 

But there is HOPE: At CPAC this past week, President Trump WON a straw poll of over 2500 attendees, taking nearly 59% of the total ballots cast, up 4% from last year’s event in Orlando. President Trump is rallying Republican voters behind the MAGA movement in time to take back the House and stop the socialist agenda.

TRUMP WINS CPAC 2024 GOP PRESIDENTIAL NOMINATION STRAW POLL

Last weekend, the Conservative Political Action Conference conducted an anonymous online straw poll of 2500 attendees. President Trump received 59% of total votes, with Florida Governor Ron Desantis taking a distant second with only 28% of ballots cast. No other candidate listed on the ballot surpassed 2% of the votes cast. 

On a second ballot question where President Trump was not available as an option, Desantis gained 61% support among attendees polled, with ⅔ of President Trump’s supporters from the first question backing Desantis without Trump on the ballot. 

President Trump is leading the Republican Party on our mission to take back the House, fire Pelosi, and stop the radical socialist agenda from becoming law.

RSC MEMO: Low Energy Joe’s Crisis

On Day 1, President Biden began his attack on domestic energy producers and American consumers. Biden’s assault laid the groundwork for even more devastation. 

According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the U.S. bought a record amount of Russian oil in 2021. U.S. purchases, coupled with soaring prices caused by a decrease in the oil supply, earned Russia's gas sector record profits last year. 

That cash helped insulate Russia from sanctions and shifted Putin’s calculus towards a full-scale invasion. 

Energy policy is the key to Putin’s invasion, its long-term consequences for American citizens and Biden’s weak-kneed response. Putin’s war of aggression in Ukraine is an energy war. 

And, thanks to Joe Biden, America is unprepared to fight it. We are energy vulnerable. 

Joe Biden must make America energy independent again. He must end his assault on domestic energy producers, boost America’s energy readiness and refocus on Russia.

On Tuesday evening, Joe Biden delivered the least inspiring State of the Union Address in my lifetime. Biden is doubling down on his failed policies and keeps falling short of every promise he made during the campaign. 

Our country is coming apart at the seams and has become a JOKE on the world stage. We’re facing an energy crisis and off-the-charts inflation, but Biden thinks America is already undergoing an incredible economic recovery.
