Help hold politicians accountable for attacks on our democracy and environment? ? ? ? Friend ?

Secrecy is one of the most dangerous weapons that big polluters and the politicians who do their bidding have. Dark money, back-room deals, and quiet votes in the middle of the night hold our country back from making the progress we desperately need to take on problems like climate change and voter suppression.

The solution: transparency and a fierce commitment to holding leaders accountable when they vote against our environment and our democracy. That's why LCV's 2021 National Environmental Scorecard is such an important tool. For more than 50 years, supporters like you have powered our work to track and explain the voting records of members of Congress so that the public knows what they are and aren't doing.

Now, we're counting on you to make sure that lawmakers who have betrayed the public trust on issues like the environment and democracy don't get away with it. Make your gift of $5 or more right now to help expose the truth, no matter what it takes. [link removed]

It's been over a year since the horror of January 6, 2021, when violent insurrectionists stormed the U.S. Capitol. Later that same day, 135 representatives and eight senators unconscionably voted against certifying the presidential election results.

Worse yet, this legislation is urgently needed when states like Arizona are passing bills that allow state legislatures to undo the will of the people and change election results.

At the same time, there were at least 20 major climate disasters in the U.S. last year. From wildfires to hurricanes, these disasters killed nearly 700 people and caused $145 billion in damage, causing devastation in communities across the country.

And still, more than 200 members of the House and a majority of U.S. senators refused to advance historic investments to address the climate crisis, create good-paying jobs, and equitably transition our nation to a clean-energy economy.

With LCV's National Environmental Scorecard, we expose who is blocking the action on climate change we so urgently need and protecting the fundamental right to vote. Please, make a gift of $5 or more now to help LCV hold politicians accountable and continue our vital work to secure strong policies on climate, environmental justice, and democracy.? [link removed]

The majority of people in the U.S. overwhelmingly support protecting our democracy and want to see action on climate change now. LCV has been advocating for voting rights and democracy reforms for years, because we know we cannot have a healthy environment without a healthy democracy.

Now, I'm asking you to do your part. [link removed] Together, we will make sure the public knows what our lawmakers are doing and push them to enact the bold, sweeping policy changes we so urgently need.

Thank you for your continued support.
