John, this is what we are running against in this race. This is why we need to stand up to right-wing extremism. Last month, I debated Josh Mandel for the second time and things got nasty.
During last month’s debate, Josh Mandel:
- Said I’m “dumber than AOC.”
- Called me “angry” multiple times during the debate.
- Characterized Black Lives Matter activists as “thugs.”
I refuse to be characterized as an “angry black woman” for fighting for what’s right. I’m more motivated than ever to run this race for the people.
We’re in an uphill battle against extremely racist and sexist rhetoric from opponents who will do whatever they can to discredit me and our campaign. We’re less than 60 days away from the primary. Can you help me fight back by donating $5 or anything you can right now?
It’s UNACCEPTABLE that in 2022, Black women like me still have to face these racist and sexist comments when we speak up, but what’s even more unfortunate is that this isn’t anything unique.
People like Josh Mandel have told Black women what we should do and what we should say for too long! I’m sick of my fellow Black women and girls having to endure this narrative and not having the space or opportunity to fight back.
Josh Mandel’s comments are an example of the insidious racial stereotypes thrown at Black women every day and I won’t stand for it.
They say we’re too loud, too angry, too much. People like Josh Mandel don’t want people who look like me to take up space. But I refuse to be silenced. I’m passionate about creating a better Ohio and a better world — and I’m not going to slow down now.
Can you help power our campaign today by donating $5? Black women candidates raise on average half of what white candidates raise, so it’s critical that our grassroots campaign has a steady stream of donations before the primary election.
Contribute $5
We’ve NEVER elected a Black woman from Ohio to the U.S. Senate. I won’t stop until we change that, John. And I refuse to let someone like Josh Mandel stand in the way.
Thank you for your time and support,
Morgan
