Team,
Abortion access is under attack, and the protections offered by Roe v. Wade have never been more fragile.
FIRST: In 2019, Georgia passed one of the most restrictive anti-abortion bills in recent history – one that inspired similar bans in other states – banning abortions as early as six weeks into a pregnancy (it was eventually ruled unconstitutional).
THEN: Texas passed their own version of the law, banning abortions after six weeks and placing an undue financial and logistical burden on Texans seeking an abortion.
NOW: Florida’s GOP-led state legislature just passed a bill banning abortions after 15 weeks with no exceptions for rape or incest while the Georgia Senate just passed a bill that would ban the mailing of abortion pills and require women to visit their doctor and receive an ultrasound before being prescribed mifepristone.
Republican attacks on abortion access are nothing new, as we know well in Georgia. But this wave of anti-abortion bills passing in state legislatures across the country is unprecedented, and it could spell the end of abortion access as we know it.
Team, this is about our access to abortion, effective birth control, and a full range of reproductive health care options being destroyed — possibly for good.
This Women’s History Month, Carolyn needs 500 supporters to join her and send Republican lawmakers a clear message: Put a stop to these attacks on abortion access, immediately. Add your name now >>>
Thank you,
Team Bourdeaux
