In a U.S. National Security hearing this week, I reminded the witnesses that our partnerships with middle eastern countries–and all countries, for that matter–provide value, but can pose security risks to the United States. The terrorist attack at Naval Air Station Pensacola, where a radicalized Saudi Arabian killed 3 of our fellow NW Floridians is a prime example of this. It is essential that every foreigner training alongside us is sufficiently vetted to pose no threat to our countrymen.

While it may come to nobody's surprise, let’s acknowledge that Joe Biden’s State of the Union speech was a massive failure. Specifically, I found it bizarre that it took 32 minutes into his speech for President Biden to say, "and the rising cost of goods is my number one priority." Number one priorities don’t take 32 minutes of prelude. Increased across-the-board costs affect all Americans negatively, regardless of color, creed, or political affiliation. Biden has failed America on this, and it is even more concerning to hear his proposed solution to combat inflation: spend more money. REP. GAETZ VOTES TO PRESERVE NW FLORIDA’S MILITARY MISSION LINE
On Tuesday, I voted against the "American Energy Independence from Russia Act." While we should take steps to expand domestic production of energy by reauthorizing the Keystone XL Pipeline and allowing land-based drilling and fracking, this legislation contains a poison pill and actually helps Russia. It would abolish the moratorium on new oil and gas drilling leases off Florida’s coast, harming Northwest Florida’s military mission. It would impair the research, development, testing and evaluation work that allows our military to maintain a qualitative edge over Russia, China, and the world. It would be foolish to respond to Russia’s aggression by rendering America less capable to defeat Russia or anyone else. As I stated recently at the 2022 Conservative Political Action Conference, we must expand America’s access to natural resources. But launching experimental missiles over oil rigs is as dumb as dumb gets.
REP. GAETZ VOTES TO ASSIST ALL VETERANS EXPOSED TO TOXIC BURN PITS
Yesterday, I voted in support of H.R. 3967, the Honoring Our Pact Act. This is a comprehensive bill that will free up the essential health care access for 3.5 million veterans who were exposed to the airborne hazards of burn pits. Congress has been derelict in its duty to honor and protect our heroes, who were exposed to hazards many of us would not have the courage to endure. It seems that the purse strings of Congress are quick to comply with the benign requests of industry representatives and social justice warriors, but it is not until we see the damage to and loss of our friends and family members that veteran exposure to toxic chemicals becomes a funding priority.
The Honoring Our Pact Act would increase disability compensation and expand health care services to all exposed veterans and even retroactively compensate those exposed veterans who have not been helped. This bill would increase access to other VA benefits, including education assistance and home loan guarantees. Studies, reports, and outreach will be directed by the VA, too. While it has taken time to get this much needed assistance passed in the House of Representatives, I stand behind my vote and, most of all, every single veteran who is paying for their sacrifice under Our flag as heroes and true men and women.
REP. GAETZ LETTER HOLDS FBI ACCOUNTABLE FOR OUTSOURCING OUR ELECTIONS
It is imperative to our democracy that all federal elections remain transparent and apart from outside influence. The FBI tweeted that it will “continue to work with local government and private sector partners to disrupt and expose any attempts to erode confidence in the U.S. electoral system.”
The Bureau’s embrace of the private sector’s involvement to ‘secure elections’ is alarming, to say the least. Involving non-state actors in our electoral process without transparency is even worse and truly alarming for those of us who care about nonpartisan election integrity. As you will see in my letter, I demand that Director Wray provide the following:
1) the name of all private sector entities who are involved, in any capacity, with United States Elections at the behest of the FBI; and
2) the specific role of these entities in protecting the electoral system.

STARBASE RIBBON CUTTING
My staff had the honor of attending the ribbon cutting ceremony of STARBASE Pensacola at the National Flight Academy onboard NAS Pensacola.
STARBASE is a DOD funded program which not only gives students in our district opportunity for real-time hands-on experience in all areas of STEM, but students outside the district that might not have these opportunities to really get a visual of what life is like onboard an aircraft carrier.
The Flight Academy worked closely with Escambia County School District to create a curriculum to enhance student learning in areas such as 3D printing, robotics, coding, and rocketry. The Flight Academy is a hidden gem in my district, and I’m pleased to see them expand and aid our students in preparing for the future.
RECOGNIZING SANTA ROSA COUNTY’S TEACHER OF THE YEAR
It is important to acknowledge our best educators, who have a profound impact on the cognitive development of our children which prepares them to be immensely successful in their futures. On Monday, I was proud to submit an Extension of Remarks to the Congressional Record for Zack Butler of Santa Rosa County. As the Santa Rosa County Teacher of the Year, Zack has proven to exemplify talent, passion, and an unwavering commitment to good education. Congratulations Zack, we are thankful for leaders like you!
