Conservative Party leadership candidate Pierre Poilievre just committed to scrapping the carbon tax if he’s elected prime minister.

Dear John,
It does happen: sometimes a politician is on the right track.
Conservative Party leadership candidate Pierre Poilievre just committed to scrapping the carbon tax if he’s elected prime minister.
“I will scrap the carbon tax to lower the cost of gas, groceries and heating,” said Poilievre.
Listen, we know you’ve heard this promise before.
So, the Canadian Taxpayers Federation contacted Poilievre to make sure he wouldn’t replace Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s carbon tax with one of his own. Poilievre called back himself. Here’s what he said:
“I will cancel the tax and not replace it with any federal carbon tax of any kind.”
You know the carbon tax is all economic pain without the environmental gain. Trudeau is getting ready to hike his carbon tax again on April 1. But he’s not stopping there. Trudeau is planning to increase his carbon tax to about 40 cents per litre of gas by 2030.
Can you afford that?
When politicians get off track, we aren’t shy about criticizing them. That’s important in a democracy. But it’s also important to tell politicians when they’re on the right track.
If you think it’s time to scrap the carbon tax, you can send Poilievre an email using this address:

Thanks for sticking up for taxpayers – it’s making a difference!
Sincerely,
* Franco, Shannon, Todd and the rest of the CTF team.
